Make up whatever reasons you like for them not belonging together, but make them important reasons, so as to cause friction between them and any other characters in the story. Fanfic Prompt:

In light of ABC Family's delightfully frustrating use of words in their commercials for the "new" episodes of Gilmore Girls, write a Gilmore Girls fic taking place three months after the series finale. Where are the characters by that point? How are Luke and Lorelei doing? How is Rory's career? Any new beau in her life? Use your imagination, because yeah...there's not any new episodes. The commercial really did have a poor choice of word use.
